Beloved for flavorful red wines, Alba is an epicurean’s dream. The historic walled town at its heart is where growers from throughout the Piedmont region would once go to sell their produce to winemakers and négociants following the harvest, but today it is better recognized as one of Italy’s premiere culinary destinations. Sandwiched between Barolo and Barbaresco, the best vineyards, located atop sunny, south-facing hills, are planted with NebbioloBeloved for flavorful red wines, Alba is an epicurean’s dream. The Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese grapes were fermented separately in small steel tanks to maintain their varietal characteristics intact. The alcoholic fermentation was followed by malolactic fermentation, again in steel tanks. Its nose is wonderfully complex, very fruity with delicate floral and spicy notes. The tannic and smooth texture is striking on the palate, ending in a crisp and lively finish.”

“A rosé of pinot noir from the Côte des Bars, this gains its color from a short maceration on the grape skins. The ripeness of the fruit comes through in exotic spices, like Szechuan peppercorns if they could buzz with coolness rather than heat. The red fruit flavor is tight and savory, without even a whisper of sweetness, lasting with gentle, quiet persistence.

Rosé’s are made in every wine making country in the world. They are dry , unlike the sweet white zinfandels, and are made with red wine grapes; cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec, sangiovese, etc. Rosé’s are a combination of the body of a red wine with the lightness of a white wine. Rosé’s are ideal to drink in the warm summer air. Take a journey with Aries around the Rosé wine world.

Round flavors and balanced tannins finish with nuances of vanilla and star anise. Classic Pinot Noir pairings like pan-seared duck breast with a cherry reduction will work very well with this wine; but many other meaty or smoky dishes, even savory mushroom-based sautés and braises, also will be nice pairings.
