Description

They say when you drink Cannonau you’ll live 100 years! Cannonau is a blue zone wine found on the island of Sardinia in Italy. The ‚Äúblue zones‚Äù are known for their large centenarian populations. Cannonau red wines are a crucial part of the local diet.

The “Vigna Sorella” Cannonau from Sardinia is a delicious ensemble of layers: vibrant red fruits, Mediterranean trees, and homemade cacao. The wine seems seasoned with cinnamon notes and hot spices to inebriate your senses.

The grapes are hand-harvested and hand-selected and pressed the same day to capture the freshness of the grapes’ aromas and flavors. The yields are extremely low at 40 quintals per hectare which increases the grapes’ complexity, polyphenolic material, and ability to age. After a fermentation period on the skins, it rests for a period of 15/20 days. The wine then matures mainly in a steel tank for about 10 months; a small portion of the production is transferred into French oak barrels for less than a year and then reassembled with the steel aged portion, and refined in laid-down bottles for 2 or 3 months. Vivid red ruby color, ‚ÄúVigna Sorella‚Äù offers the freshness and the fragrances of Sardinia, with traces of Mediterranean maquis, myrtle and marasca, mixed in with minerality of flavors. It reveals a freshness and delicate tasty tannins. It stands out for its versatility with food. Ideal with hors-d‚Äôoeuvres, meat and also with beef, seasoned with Mediterranean herbs. Excellent with semi-aged cheeses.

7,000 bottles produced annually. Decant 1 hour before serving. 14.5% alcohol.
