$64.99

Gonet-Medeville’s 1er Cru Rosé Extra Brut Champagne is made from a blend of 70% Chardonnay, 27% Pinot Noir & 3% still red wine from Ambonnay. This is a bright and light citrus forward style of Rose. The nose shows some rose pedals up front that gives way to strawberry, pink grapefruit, blood orange, light cream and just there minerality. The palate is light with citrus, strawberry, light cream and just there minerality. Delightful!

Description

Julie and Xavier Gonet-Medeville both come from long lines of winemaking families; Julie’s family owns Château Gilette in Sauternes, and Xavier’s family have been farming in Champagne for generations. The Gonet-Medeville estate began in 2000, when Xavier’s family plots were being divided up, from which he received 12 hectares of Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in Bisseuil, Ambonnay, & Mesnil-sur-Oger, as well as five other villages across the region. All vineyards are farmed organically and vinified separately to ensure terroir expression. All grapes are fermented separately in 100% used oak barrels, then aged for 7 months in barrel and 36 months in bottle before being bottled with a dosage of 3 g/l. The resultant Champagne is elegant, lithe, refreshing, delicate and supremely easy to drinkNone of the wines go through malolactic conversion and all have low levels of dosage; all are fermented and/or aged in used barriques with some also seeing time in stainless steel tanks.
