A historic, Chardonnay-driven sparkling wine with crisp citrus, lees-aged complexity, and enduring elegance, ideal for pairing or refined sipping.

Description

Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs is an elegant, Chardonnay-based sparkling wine known for its precision, depth, and historic significance. Lively citrus flavors are balanced by refined notes of almond, bread dough, and subtle richness developed through extended aging on the lees. The style is dry and crisp, offering both freshness and complexity with a polished, lingering finish.

First produced in 1965, Blanc de Blancs was Schramsberg’s inaugural wine and America’s first commercially produced Chardonnay-based brut sparkling wine. Crafted from a blend of stainless-steel–fermented Chardonnay and small lots of barrel-fermented wines — some undergoing malolactic fermentation — the wine gains added texture and nuance. After a second fermentation in bottle, it ages on its yeast lees for approximately two years, contributing structure and long-term aging potential.

Internationally recognized when President Nixon served it at the historic “Toast to Peace” in Beijing in 1972, Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs is as notable for its heritage as for its versatility. It shines as an apéritif and pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, crab cakes, ceviche, grilled sea bass, lemon chicken, Thai curries, and a range of aged and soft cheeses.
