Description
The “Chaudoux” cuvée from Romain Reverdy is a terroir-specific Sancerre that highlights one of the region’s most prized vineyard sites in Verdigny. While many Sancerre wines are blends of different soils, “Chaudoux” is defined by its high concentration of Silex (flint). This unique soil absorbs heat during the day and reflects it back to the Sauvignon Blanc grapes, resulting in a wine with exceptional ripeness and a powerful, smoky mineral character.
On the nose, this wine is intense and focused, offering aromas of citrus zest and white currants coupled with a distinct “pierre à fusil” (gun-flint) smokiness. The palate is bone-dry and energetic, with a bracing acidity and a stony, vertical structure. It concludes with a long, saline, and slightly spicy finish that is the hallmark of top-tier flint-soil Sancerre.
