Description
The 2020 vintage from the Santa Cruz Mountains was shaped by extremes: the driest winter on record stressed the vines, spring rains reduced yields, and late-summer heat concentrated flavors. Careful farming and restrained extraction preserved balance in what could have been an overpowered wine, resulting in an elegant yet substantial expression from a challenging season.
Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is dark, opaque ruby in color, offering layered aromas of cassis, plum, red currant, and blue-black fruit, accented by forest herbs, eucalyptus, fennel, bay laurel, tobacco, and anise. Subtle toasty oak and vanilla frame the fruit without dominating it.
On the palate, it is full and rich with a deep, earthy core, firm acidity, and velvety, dry tannins that are structured but not severe.
