Description

The 2014 Pinot Noir Classico is sourced from eleven different vintages and was completely destemmed and aged 11 months in 35% new French oak. This compelling nose explodes with intriguing aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate, spiced rhubarb, cigar box, and dried Ancho pepper. The structured palate has a sweet middle defined by spiced Amarena cherries, black pepper, graphite, and dried cranberry. The finish is long and elegant, with ripe red fruit lingering throughout.

Founded by Dick and Nancy Ponzi in 1970, Ponzi Vineyards, now led by the second generation with winemaker Luisa Ponzi and president Maria Ponzi, continues the legacy of crafting superb Pinot Noir. Luisa, educated in Burgundy, returned to the Willamette Valley in 1993, contributing to Ponzi’s consistent presence on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list and establishing Oregon’s place on the wine map. The 2014 vintage, marked by optimal conditions, showcases Luisa’s expertise, with fruit sourced from sustainably farmed Aurora and Avellana vineyards, delivering a Pinot Noir ready to enjoy now and over the next few years.
