Description

Marc Hébrart Champagne is a long-established, family-run estate in the Vallée de la Marne, led by Jean-Paul Hébrart since 1997. Founded in 1964 and a member of the prestigious Special Club since 1985, the domaine farms 14 hectares across 65 parcels in six villages, including premier cru sites in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Avenay, Val d’Or, and Bisseuil, as well as grand cru vineyards in Aÿ, Chouilly, and Oiry. Each parcel is vinified separately, primarily in glass-lined stainless steel tanks, with selective experimentation using barrels and indigenous yeasts for older vines.

The NV Champagne 1er Cru Sélection Brut is based mainly on the 2020 vintage with reserve wines from 2019 and 2018, sourced from 50-year-old vines. The blend is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, fermented in stainless steel and finished with a modest 6 g/L dosage. Aromatically, it shows pear, white peach, citrus, red berries, wet stone, and delicate pastry notes, with hints of spice and floral lift.

On the palate, it is medium-bodied, round, and vinous yet fresh, marked by a refined, pillowy mousse and bright acidity. Critics consistently praise its purity, balance, and crystalline finish, awarding scores around 92 points. Approachable now, it offers a generous drinking window of roughly 8–10 years.
