Description

The 2016 Le Dôme Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is a cult, Cabernet Franc–dominant Bordeaux crafted by Jonathan Maltus, blending 80% Cabernet Franc with 20% Merlot and aged in 80% new French oak. Produced in tiny quantities near Château Angélus, it is widely regarded as one of the finest wines ever made at Le Dôme and a benchmark vintage for the estate.

The wine is intensely aromatic and complex, offering layers of black cherry, plum, blackberry, and raspberry intertwined with violet, rose, graphite, spice, smoke, and mineral notes. Full-bodied yet remarkably refined, it combines ultra-fine, silky tannins with vibrant acidity, delivering a long, fragrant, and multidimensional finish that balances opulence with elegance and lift.

Critically lauded with multiple 100-point scores, the 2016 Le Dôme is powerful yet ethereal, approachable with extended decanting but built to age effortlessly for two to three decades. Best served slightly cool, it pairs beautifully with richly flavored dishes and rewards patient cellaring.
