I. W. Harper is an iconic bourbon that has not been available in the United States for over 20 years, but luckily, it is making its long-awaited comeback. I. W. Harper was distilled in the New Bernheim distillery from a mash of 73% corn, 18% rye, and 9% barley, aged in Stitzel-Weller warehouses for about four years and bottled in Tullahoma, the same place where the Orphan Barrel releases from Diageo are being bottled.
At 41% alc/vol., this reserved bourbon presents a subtle aroma of walnuts, wood shavings, and vanilla. The palate is similarly light, starring corn sweetness, oak, mint, raisins, and dark fruit. It finishes short, spicy, and drying.
