Description
Cragganmore distillery was founded in 1869 by John Smith, and it is located in the village of Ballindalloch, Banffshire, Scotland. The name Cragganmore, translated from Gaelic means “big rock”. It is one of the most well known Speyside distilleries, making several of the world’s best whiskys and winning multiple awards.
Cragganmore 12yr is an elegant and sophisticated Speside malt, unbelievably complex and satisfyingly delicious! It was matured in second-fill bourbon casks, to reduce the woodiness of the first-fill barrels, and bottled at 80 proof. It was chosen by the Diageo Group to be representative of Speyside in their “Classic Malt” series.
NOSE: Silky and rich, herbal, with fruit, leather ans chestnut notes.
PALATE: Savory, notes of honey, blackberry, fruit, walnuts, dried apricots, very robust and complex.
FINISH: Long, flowery, with a hint of smoke.
Final note: Very complex malt, and worth every penny. We only wish, that it was non-chill filtered and bottled at higher proof, then we would keep it all for ourselves!
