Description

Bava Stradivario Barbera D’Asti Superior

Like all great wines, Barbera too has its own crus. In certain areas and vineyards where it reaches the highest of its expression, it rightfully deserves the name SUPERIOR. Stradivario, with its great character, is only produced during the best vintages (millesimi). It is a long-lasting wine with a potential of at least 15 years, always maintaining the fresh colour of its varietal. Full-bodied, intense ruby red in colour with purple hints and harmonious tannins. Black cherries, raspberries, candied apple, white pepper, prunes and blonde tobacco. Can be enjoyed after 5 years in the bottle and pairs nicely with the great Piedmontese cuisine and white truffle. Like all great Barberas maceration is relatively short but intense, with rising tempeatures until the wine reaches the highest expression of its color. After a slow and natural decanting process, the wine is trasferred into new barriques for 18 months and then bottled without being filtered.

It is our greatest cru! The vineyard of the Pieve hill, with its southern exposure, is a historic vineyard in Cocconato, former parish benefit. It has always been a Barbera vineyard surrounding the small church of Madonna della Neve.

In the vineyard of the most popular French wine there is a sign that reads “… Nous vous demandons de rester sur la route et en aucun cas de ne pénétrer dans la vigne” (Please remain on the road and do not for any reason go in the vineyard). We went in anyway, we picked a stone and we thought of putting a different sign in the vineyard where we produce our most important wine: “Do not reamain on the road, walk through our vineyard! Walk along the vine rows, touch the leaves, taste the grapes”. We would like the vineyard to be part of the pleasure of this great wine that since the early 1980s has contributed to make Barbera a great wine.
