Dr. Frank Gewurztraminer

Dr. Frank Gewurztraminer

Dr. Frank Gewurztraminer is prized for its aromatic bouquet, citrus notes, and smooth, medium-to-full body.

Originating from Alsace, Gewürztraminer is a grape known for its distinctive characteristics and is highly prized for its aromatic bouquet and smooth, medium-to-full body. The Dr. Frank Gewurztraminer embodies these traits with well-integrated notes of sweet citrus, stone fruit, and a signature spicy finish. This Gewürztraminer proves to be an ideal pairing for roast pork, turkey, Chinese cuisine, and Northern Italian dishes.

The vineyards tell a story of careful planning and selection. In 2012, Gewürztraminer was planted on a four-acre plot on the Seneca estate vineyard. The slightly warmer temperatures in this location result in riper fruit notes. The soils on Seneca showcase deep honeoye silt loam. Meanwhile, Gewürztraminer blocks on the Keuka vineyard were planted in 1968 and 1981 on 3309 rootstocks. The shallow, shale-based soils contribute minerality, acidity, and elegance to the grapes, making each vintage a nuanced expression of the unique terroir and meticulous cultivation techniques employed by Dr. Frank.
