United States has a very long tradition of whiskey making, most notably bourbon and rye whiskies, although in recent years with the global demand of whiskey on the rise, a lot of producers started also making single malt whiskey in the USA. With the recent establishment of the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission, the industry is looking to define the category—both domestically and internationally—in order to protect, educate, promote and ultimately grow it.
